Hello, my name is Henry Carlson! I’m a MIX maker associate currently developing a tabletop roleplaying game called FANE. The game has been through many iterations since its conception in 2015, including versions as an improv game, a forum hosted choose-your-own-adventure, and as text adventures programmed in Python and Twine 2.

Currently, FANE is a tabletop roleplaying game similar to Dungeons & Dragons, featuring an elegant resource management system designed to evoke the atmosphere of classic text adventures like Zork as well as modern gems like A Dark Room. I’ve also programmed a suite of storyteller’s tools in Python which procedurally generate aspects of FANE, and have developed similar tools for Dungeons & Dragons and Chronicles of Darkness.

I offer consulting on tabletop game development, gamemaster theory, and creative writing. If you are an author or a game master, feel free to come to brainstorm with me during my office hours!
