MIX Host DoD Grant Funded Project exploring Swarm Drone Defenses with ECE and BUS students (Dr. Sangheera & Dr. Menon)

Dr. Sanghera and Dr. Menon (Cc’d) have received a DoD grant that activated a group of 12 students (9 ECE and 3 MBA) to implement the first project phase which was to build and customize a group of swarm drones to autonomously locate a specific goal and move to that location and trigger actuators that do something like dropping ping pong balls. This first effort was to establish a base within which to research strategies and or technologies that might serve as a defense in such a confrontation and interaction.

See below for an early drone automated flying test:

The group coordinated access to the MIX Makerspace to design and build their drones.

This work was implemented over the period of May 13 – Aug 15.
